Update on the Petition + What This Moment Means

UPDATE

Over the next week, we will be finalizing all signed petitions printing them off and placing the petition into the hands of a dedicated community member who will file it with the school board, officially beginning the process of getting it on the agenda. This is a pivotal moment because time is of the essence, and the community’s voice cannot go unheard.

At The Unmuted Podcast, our role has never been to make the decisions or drive the outcomes. Our purpose is to shine light on the issues, empower transparency, and demonstrate what proactive engagement looks like. The real influence and the real change comes from the community stepping forward, asking questions, seeking clarity, and taking action.

This moment belongs to the community. We are simply here to help illuminate the path so every voice feels informed, confident, and empowered to be part of shaping what comes next.

Having community members willing to pick up the mantle has been incredibly meaningful for us. It shows that people do not just want change, they are willing to put in the work to make that change real. Your willingness to take time out of your day to sign the petition also sends a clear message to the district and the board that we are not the only ones who want to see a different direction.

If you haven’t signed the petition yet, there’s still time. While the initial signatures are in the hands of a community member preparing to file, we can continue adding names and showing broader support.

What this 5-part series will cover

For the next five days, we’re publishing one post per day. Each post is short enough to read quickly, but focused enough to be useful.

Here’s what’s coming:

Part 1 (today): The petition update + why this moment matters

Part 2: How parents can engage wisely (not reactively)

Part 3: How the board and superintendent should work together (transparency + accountability)

Part 4: Leadership issues: turnover, stagnant ideas, and why the current model isn’t working

Part 5: Our community vision — and what we are / are not saying

If you’ve been waiting for something that’s clear, grounded, and solutions-oriented, that’s what we’re building here.
